10 days.....in 10 days a confident, energetic, high octane, stubborn and always caring 4 year old boy named Liam was stopped in his tracks.  In those 10 days, Liam's mother started noticing continuous and unexplained bruising of his lower extremities, unfamiliar red dots on his backside, random fevers and stomach aches. As a parent, she knew something just didn't seem quite right. On Monday, May 14th, 2018, Liam was taken to his pediatrician. The Pediatrician was phenomenal, probing and asking all the right questions, putting an urgent request for lab results. Later that evening around 9:30pm, the phone call came from the on-call nurse. "You must take Liam to CHOC ER Main Campus Immediately." That was all that was heard although there was much more said.  Hoping and praying for the best, these parents worst nightmare was about to unfold.

It wasn't long before the devastating news came "Mom, Dad, can we speak to you outside?" "Results confirmed what we where speculating, Liam has Leukemia." Further testing needed to be done to find the exact sub type of Leukemia that this 4 year old boy, must conquer.  As a parent, you can only imagine the shock, heartbreak and disbelief that filled the room. Liam was immediately admitted to the CHOC Oncology Department. Within the next 5 days, Liam had a platelet and blood transfusion, a bone marrow biopsy, a spinal tap, a port inserted into his chest,  and started Chemo therapy. The diagnosis: ALL: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. I don’t think anything in the world can prepare a parent for this life changing diagnosis of their child.

If you know this family, you know that they are strong, resilient, loving, caring and compassionate. They are just beginning this long road, facing a 3+ year journey of multiple chemo treatments, 40+ lumbar punctures, extreme risks to infections, and the extraordinary emotional, physical and financial strain this will put on their family.  This family needs all the love, support and financial assistance to help ease their daily stresses and really concentrate their energies and focus on the Battle of Liam's Life. Liam is strong and brave with a personality to keep them going...just look at that radiant smile 😊.  I ask each and everyone of you, to please rally around this family, however you can, for they need Us all so very much.

Please continue to keep Liam in your thoughts and prayers. He is fighter and ready to kick this cancer's ass! 🙏🏻👊🏻💪🏻
