In October 2017 Khaled was a very happy 1 year and 10 month old boy when he had a fall to his head, he was sent home from the ER as he appeared to be OK but went back the next day and stayed for observation that showed declining vitals. The biggest worry was bleeding but the CT showed a huge 10cm tumour in his brain. The next day he underwent surgery and it was all removed. Two weeks later the pathology showed that it is an Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumour (AT/RT), a very rare and aggressive form of cancer labeled as Stage 4.

Khaled was given a 10% chance of survival with treatment, he underwent three rounds of induction and three rounds of high dose chemo, as well as regular intrathecal chemotherapy. After he was done treatment his MRI scans were clear for 4 months.

Sweet Khaled is now a 2 year old warrior battling relapsed AT/RT. in August 2018 his MRI showed that the cancer is back and spreading like wildfire in his brain and spine. Despite his age he is undergoing radiotherapy, however, this will not cure him but only buy us some time and now he needs to travel for other treatment options abroad. There aren't any clinical trials available for him so treatment options are limited and costly.

He is the sweetest son and little brother, he is putting up a good fight, and we will always be grateful for your help.
